Oh boy, oh boy! An update!
Sheesh...
Time certainly has a mind of its own and now I'm even more behind on my journal updates. Oh well. Not much I can do. This time there really are not any excuses either. I've had free time, I've just focused my attention on other things and completly neglected my journal.
Summer has finally started for me. It took a while, but it is here. Yay! I finished classes over a month ago and only had one final, but I had to finish student teaching as well. Not that I minded. I had a blast and was able to celebrate my birthday with my preschoolers as well as say goodbye to everyone, which was a bit sad.
I also had a thematic unit to write, which, silly me, I left until the night before I said that I would hand it in. I did a good job on it, though I don't think it had any influence on my grade in the least. I had checked online the day before to see which grades were up and was suprised to see that they were all posted. I had guessed that my student teaching grade would not be up because I had not handed in my portfolio and Dr. Perez, the super tough Ed teacher I've posted about before, isn't one to hand out grades without having seen all the work.
I inquired about the fact that my grade, an A (also something Dr. Perez doesn't hand out), was already posted when I dropped off my portfolio with another of the Ed department staff. She said that Dr. Perez had submitted grades for two students and that that grade would stick. Good news, but all the work I'd put into my thematic unit seemed a bit of a waste. Whatever. I got an A. Which means that this semester I, once again, got all As and one A -. God damnit. That ellusive 4.0 is going to drive me nuts.
Since then my time has been spent shopping, lounging by the pool, working, babysitting, watching movies, reading, etc. In essence, its been a very relaxing two or so weeks off thus far. I'm enjoying myself and finally getting to do some of the things that I really enjoy doing. I'm hoping I am able to do more of this as the summer progresses; even with summer courses.
I've also taken a few weekend trips. One up to Salem for Jess's graduation and one to PA for my cousin Kim's graduation. This Friday we leave for the Outer Banks. I'm excited. We've got a bunch of families going with us; including my brothers' and the PA Duffners. It should be fun. Da Momma is turning the big 5-0, so we'll be celebrating some as well. I've learned how to make Malibu Bay Breezes for the occasion. I should be good to go for the week based upon this. LoL.
Hmmm...so I think that is really all that is new and exciting. Nothing too reflective or amazingly insightful, I know. Summer is a time for relaxation and going with the flow; which is exactly what I plan on doing for the time being. The shit will fall where it will and I'll be chilling out poolside saving my energy for student teaching beginning in August (if I can pass the damned teacher's tests!).
